FANUC SR-3iA 4-Axis SCARA Robot

The FANUC SR-3iA is a 4-axis SCARA robot with a 3 kg payload and 400 mm reach, designed for high-speed assembly, pick-and-place, and other automated manufacturing processes. Its lightweight design and compact footprint make the SR-3iA well suited for small-part handling in space-constrained applications.

Southwestern PTS is a FANUC Authorized System Integrator and can provide the SR-3iA as a standalone robot or design and integrate a custom turnkey robotic cell or machine around the robot. Contact us for SR-3iA pricing, lead times, and integration options for your application.

FAQ:

FANUC SR-3iA vs FANUC SR-3iA/H — which SCARA robot should I use?

  • Choose the FANUC SR-3iA when your application requires the tool or part to rotate at the wrist, since the SR-3iA has an additional axis (J4) for rotation that the SR-3iA/H lacks. Choose the SR-3iA/H as a lower-cost option for simpler pick-and-place or assembly tasks that don't require that rotation.

Can the FANUC SR-3iA SCARA robot be used in food or washdown environments?

  • The standard FANUC SR-3iA SCARA robot is rated IP20 and is not built for food-contact or washdown environments. FANUC offers separate 3 kg SCARA models, the SR-3iA/U Environmental Option (IP65, ceiling mounted) and the SR-3iA/C Food Grade Option (IP54), which are suitable for secondary food handling and protection against dust and low-pressure water spray. These are not rated for true washdown (IP69K) or primary food-contact processing — for those applications, ask us about FANUC's stainless washdown-rated robots instead.

Can a Fanuc SR-3iA SCARA robot work with moving parts, like a conveyor?

  • Yes. The FANUC SR-3iA SCARA robot can be integrated with conveyors, smart conveyors, or manual load stations for pick-and-place on moving parts. These applications typically require machine vision to track part position and orientation in real time.

How much does a FANUC SR-3iA SCARA robot cost?

  • Pricing for the FANUC SR-3iA SCARA robot depends on configuration — standalone robot, end-of-arm tooling, safety systems, or a full turnkey cell. Contact Southwestern PTS for a quote tailored to your application and payload/reach requirements.

FANUC SR-3iA SCARA vs CRX-3iA cobot — which should I use?

  • The SR-3iA SCARA is the better fit for high-speed, repetitive pick-and-place or assembly work where the motion path stays consistent. The CRX-3iA cobot makes more sense for tasks needing more complex or varied motion, closer work alongside operators, or running without full safety fencing. Weigh footprint and how each robot ties into your upstream and downstream processes as well.
